Americana Images an online archive of North American photographs that were shot by British photographer Scott Wishart between 1992 and 2002.

Scott first visited the United States and Canada as a boy, returning a number of years later in a gap year between art college and university. Over the next ten years he became addicted to road trips, often spending months at a time driving the length and breadth the continent in hired pickup trucks.

During this period he produced a vast body of work that subsequently became his signature when approaching newspapers and magazines for commissions.

In 1998 he sold his first image to Harper Collins for a book cover, Peter Hedges' An Ocean in Iowa, and discovered he could fund future trips by similar means.

By 2001, when Scott first conceived Americana Images, revenue from book covers formed a significant proportion of his income as a practitioner, and consequently other photographers began submitting images to the archive, most notably Edinburgh based photographer, Scott Mitchell.

Americana Images has always been an online resource, the current website will be the first to allow download of full-resolution images via a payment gateway.

Although Scott has not returned to the United States for for several years, he continues to freelance as a photographer all over the UK and Europe.
